Zions 10K Fun Run

This year is Zions National Park Centennial celebration. In honor of this they did a 10K fun run for the very first time. The majority of the race was on the roads and the last mile or two was a path through trees. These roads are only accessible by shuttle, so some of the areas we ran most people have not walked through. It was an unbelievable experience to look up and see the beauty surrounding us. The entire time I kept wishing for another opportunity to do it again!

Fly Guy, myself and my sister getting ready for the fun... We did have to wait about 1 1/2hrs in the freezing cold...this part I did not like!

Another great view from the run...awesome!!!!!

We made it! Here are our supporters. My sister Haylee and her friend came to help with our kids during the race...Thank You! My cute nieces, Allie & Emily and nephew James came to cheer on their mom.

Easter

This is one of my favorite holidays. I love spring with everything blooming and turning green. This in combination with the celebration of our Savior, Jesus Christ makes it a perfect time for renewal. We are reminded that we can keeping trying and that there is hope for the future.

No surprise here...the kids began the morning looking for the baskets that the Easter Bunny left for them.

Next, we had to start the day with an amazing breakfast by Fly Guy. We love having him around!

E2 loves crepes...he will eat two or three easily!

We finally got everyone cleaned up and ready for church, but this was the best picture I could get. Three happy is not that bad!

After church we spent the evening with my cousin Beth, her family and my Aunt Harleane & Uncle Jerry. They made a great meal and my Aunt arranged an egg hunt for the kids and gave them adorable baskets. We are so blessed to have family to spend the holidays with.

Easter Celebrations

Easter Celebrations began on Saturday for us. Lexie, a cousin, came for the day to enjoy the festivities. The kids enjoyed a primary activity in the morning and then that afternoon we had friends over for dinner, an Easter egg hunt and decorating cupcakes. When that was over we were surprised to find that the Sniders had planned another little egg hunt for the kids. They are so nice! My kids loved having them come over.

S...looking so sweet!

E...I love that face.

Cute Lauren who missed the two eggs right above her.

St. George, UT

We spent the beginning of our Spring break in St. George, UT with my sister Tina and her family. One of the days they took us to hike up the narrows. It was a beautiful day and from every spot there was a great view of the city with the temple in the center.

my nephew James...

These are the narrows. Looking at Fly Guy you can tell that it gets really tight in some of the areas.

My sister Tina & I...

This is the bath tub...how cool would it be if it was a natural hot springs.

I love this picture of E2...he is so big now.

E had a blast crawling in and out of all the little holes.

Happy Anniversary!

Amazingly, Fly Guy & I have been married for 13 years. From the picture, you would think that we went to Hawaii, but really no...that was a few years ago. Looking through our pictures I realized we don't have many pictures of us together.

Fly Guy & I spent the day with our kids and some friends joined us in watching General Conference. I made Fly Guy a really good "sleep-in omelet" http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2008/05/sleepin-in-omlette/for breakfast. This was really really good...not for those counting calories! Fly Guy is known as "the breakfast guy". The way to his heart is through breakfast or fishing. I also made some fabulous zucchini cookies http://realmomkitchen.blogspot.com/search/label/zucchini. The kids really enjoyed these and it was fun to try something different.

Fly Guy & I are still in love and most of the time even like each other....I think that is pretty good after 13 years. We are definitely in this together and I can't imagine it any other way!

Chicken Pox

A couple of days into our Spring break/vacation we realized that E2 and S had the Chicken poxs...yuck! E2 is almost a year and handled it really well. I think it is almost better at this age because they don't scratch the sores. S had them pretty bad. One day I was putting more medicine on her sores and also trying to calm her down when she said, with tears "Mom, I hate chickens...Those are some mean Chickens." It was one of those moments where you want to laugh and cry at the same time. The sad thing is, my older boys really think chickens attacked their siblings.

Meeting the Podiatrist

Last week, I had my first Podiatrist visit. I have been experiencing foot/ankle problems for over a month. I slowed down my workouts and took time off from running and everything got worse, so I broke down and called the doctor. He explained to me that I had a pinched nerved that had become swollen. To fix this, he gave me a cortizone shot.....Holy Cow!!! I wish he would have warned me a little....the shot hurt, but the shooting pain that came immediately after was way worse. After, the pain calmed down he told me to go running and everything should be fine. The problem was that my foot felt like I had a massive infection for two days. I spoke with a different Podiatrist, who explained that this was normal. Now I know that when they smile and say "it will just hurt a little", do not believe them!!

After all this, I did go running and I think my foot troubles are over.....I am still being cautious, but happy to be running!!
